Banner Chalets

F.A.Q. - Your Frequently Asked Questions are answered

Q.1 Tell us about the views from Wantalanya.

Standing in the vicinity of the chalets, facing east, you can see across the Numinbah Valley and the Advancetown Dam to the Gold Coast skyline and the Pacific Ocean beyond. The most engaging views are at dawn and at night: the bright lights of the city-scapeRed Sunrisebelow and the vast canopy of stars above, reveal a different world.

In our western paddocks, cattle graze around the dam. Ducks and other waterbirds flock to this expanse of water which has a tiny central island. Swimming and perching waterfowl create a pictureque tableau.

Q.2 Are guests permitted to wander about your cattle property?

In principle, yes, but please check at the office first. There are natural hazards on farms, especially for children. Your safety is our concern but your responsibility.

Q.3 Are your chalets air-conditioned?

No. Due to the elevation, the temperatures at Beechmont in summer are typically several degress lower than those at Nerang. It's cooler and less humid up here.

Q.4 We want to hike at Binna Burra. Can you recommend an introductory walk for someone middle-aged and of average fitness? And do you have a free map?

Yes. The Caves Track is popular with young and old. It is somewhat strenuous in places and you need to be careful. However, there are some spectacular views and features along the way. You can always turn back if the going gets too tough. The track begins next to the National Parks & Wildlife Information Centre - do make further inquiries there. It will take about 1.5 hours to complete the 5km circuit back to the car.

A useful, free map/brochure, Visitors Guide - Lamington National Park is available at our Office or from the NPW Information Centre.
